Brief Statement

The landscape is the primary inspiration for all my work. Hiking through the woods provides raw material for video, installation, and sculpture. Topographic contours inspire wall reliefs overlayed with shadow, or installations of reeds that function as three-dimensional drawings. Cycles of geologic time including erosion and sedimentation inspire my works on paper that are made by the process of evaporation.

Much of my work is temporal. Objects and materials are assembled for a brief period of time, that are then dispersed to be reconfigured in another place and time--much like the land itself.

Other works capture color and form in more permanent materials that trigger memory and the experience of place.
